The Basildon East Square development is the heart of the wider town centre regeneration programme creating a brand new leisure square for the town centre.
The development will deliver a 10 screen multi-cinema pre-leased to Empire Cinemas, which will include the largest cinema screen in Essex. Alongside this and significant improvements to the public realm there will be six new restaurant units with outdoor dining opportunities.
The six restaurant units range in size from 2,637 sq ft to 3,100 sq ft with the potential for a mezznine floor avaliable in two of the units.
East Square will become a vibrant public space. The redevelopment will consolidate
levels and enhance pedestrian routes. Pedestrian links into East Square from the
car park to the north east will improve. Landscaping and lighting enhancements in this space will create an inviting and safe route both day and night.
The Square will be at the very heart of the town centre at the junction of the main retail high street, the Eastgate Shopping Centre and the new cultural quarter. The scheme also has a car park directly to the rear.
Basildon benefits from being the second largest economy in the Thames Gateway after Canary Wharf with a core shopper population of 214,000.
The premises are to be made available by way of an agreement for a new lease term on an effectively fully repairing and insuring basis.
